Nido
Designed and manufactured in 10 weeks through Stanford ME 263: The Chair.
Nido, meaning 'nest' in Spanish, is a chair that celebrates the beauty of organic and geometric design. Inspired by the intricate engineering of a bird's nest, Nido features 50 unique wooden legs that connect at two pivot points, allowing it to lay flat or bloom into its distinctive form. Crafted entirely out of wood, Nido accentuates the natural shapes and imperfections of each piece while forming a cohesive structure that cradles the sitter. Its flexible engineering design enables it to contour to the user's shape in both the chair seat and back, providing a comfortable and nurturing experience. The almost entirely wooden aesthetic of the Nido chair creates a sense of home, reinventing the classic wooden patio chair.
